About Rory T. Edwards

Mr. Rory T. Edwards, founder of the Rory T. Edwards Group has worked relentlessly over the last 30 years in a multitude of leadership positions in education, community development, corporate business, and non-profit organizations. In addition to his civic involvement, Rory has taught at the college level as well as in K-12 public, private, technical and charter schools.

Born and raised in New Britain, Connecticut, he served as President of the New Britain N.A.A.C.P. for 11 years and was a member of the National NAACP Education Committee. Rory played a significant role in the success of the nationally acclaimed Amistad Academy in New Haven, CT. During his tenure as the Dean of Students, his school culture methodology was recognized as “a national model for education” by former U.S. Secretary of Education, Roderick Paige. Rory was co-founder of the Cross-Cultural Academy of Arts and Technology Charter School in Hartford, CT, and has assisted several school leaders in the development of charter schools in six different states. Rory was founder of “Once a Man, Twice a Child” Rites of Passage Academy in New Britain, CT and served as Chief Operations Officer of the Georgia Training Alliance.

Rory is dedicated to developing programs, and providing services that deliver the educational, health and social essentials of culturally diverse, urban, suburban and rural communities. In May 2003, he was invited by former Congresswoman, Nancy Johnson (CT) to participate in the United States Congress Summit on Policy Based Dialogue for African-American Leaders. As a Central Connecticut State University Fulbright Scholar, he continued his humanitarian work in Ghana, Africa where he spent 8 weeks working in the African villages.

As host of The Rory T. Edwards radio show on WXRP blog-talk radio, he is known for his creative, attentive, spirited, high energy, entertaining and persistent approach. As author of the book, “So You Want to Be a Professional Athlete?” Rory has worked as an athletic trainer, coach and advisor to high school, college and professional athletes.
