In this Guide, I hope, through sharing personal life experiences, proven exercises and a potential blueprint which can help you reach your full potential as an athlete/ person, but also information that will help you accept the fact that athletics are not the only path there is for a worthwhile and wonderful life. If you develop a “LIFE” plan of action early, you can become greater than you ever imagined even if you do not make it as a professional athlete.
This workbook, to be used in tandem with So You Want To Be A Professional Athlete?, contains student-centered, hands-on, interactive, reflective, and introspective activities and lessons that promote life-long learning and life-planning for all students, regardless of academic levels. This approach is intentional in order for students to develop and foster critical-thinking skills sets, as well as thought-provoking responses to open-ended questions and scenarios.
The focus for the majority of the activities and lessons is on the process of determining an answer, not determining what the correct answer is. This is a paradigm shift in thinking, teaching and learning.
By practicing and applying targeted reading, writing and math skills, students will adopt habits of mind that are transferable from the classroom to the real world.
